Summary
See the net amount, VAT component, and gross amount for either pricing direction.
Calculation details
Add mode multiplies a net amount by one plus the VAT rate. Remove mode divides the gross amount by one plus the rate; it does not simply subtract the percentage.
Formula
Add: gross = net × (1 + rate). Remove: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate). VAT = gross − net.
Worked example
Remove 20% VAT from $120
Dividing $120 by 1.20 gives a $100 net amount and a $20 VAT component.
How it works
Choose whether the entered amount excludes or includes VAT, then enter the applicable rate.
